The Award-winning Riverdale Rising Stars teen program is the cornerstone for all things theatrical at the Riverdale Y: Riverdale Rising Stars, Riverdale Rising Stars Jr. and Riverdale Rep. All three theater companies continue to bring quality productions to the Bronx and beyond.
Riverdale Rising Stars
Riverdale Rising Stars was founded in 2000, by Laurie Walton and Debbie Young, RRS has proven to be the launching pad and inspiration for all arts offerings now at the Riverdale Y. Our most recent shows included, PIPPIN, THE BOYFRIEND & SPELLING BEE. RRS is open to teens ages 12-18. Participation is by audition only.
Jr. Rising Stars
Riverdale Rising Stars, JR. is our training ground for children ages 7-11; a chance for exploration into the world of musical theatre. What began as a workshop in 2002, the RRS Jr. program has now grown into a real force to be reckoned with. The Junior group performs in 4 full productions each year. Participation is by audition only.
Riverdale Repertory Company
Riverdale Rep was established 3 years ago, after the passing of Sue Rose. Sue had been at the helm of the Riverdale Y’s Harlequin Theatre company for more than 50 years, and was a true legend in community theater circles. Riverdale Rep has taken on the task of continuing this tradition by continuing to present quality theatre. Serving as both a social outlet as well as a vessel for area adults to rediscover lost talents, Riverdale Rep offers a professional-like experience to adults over the age of 18. Participation is by audition only.
