Summer Stage
| Summer Stage, (formerly Broadway on the Hudson) is the ultimate Theater Camp experience. Rising Stars began Summer Stage with the aim of creating the “Whole Artist” in a fun, innovative and professional environment. Summer Stage gives the opportunity for young artists to explore the world of theater everyday. Campers work with professionals on a daily basis in Acting, Shakespeare, Stage Combat, Voice, Dance, Photographyand even more.Artists (campers) spend an entire summer immersed in the Arts and surrounded by a nurturing environment. In addition to daily workshops, campers at Summer Stage also work on a full scale musical, attend NY Theater and receive Master Classes from Industry professionals.
The Summer Stage team includes our own Rising Star Teens and alumni serving as counselors, Musical Directors and Choreographers, allowing our young adults to transition into being role models for our campers. |
Summer Stage Performances – 2012
ArtsFest – Entire Camp!We began ArtsFest last summer and it was an instant hit! ArtsFest is a chance for parents and campers to gather in our theater for one evening, while the campers and Teaching Artists share what they have been creating together all summer. Whether it be Shakespeare, Dance or Improv it is sure to be a night of FUN and enlightenment, as parents discover their child’s ability.

NEW!!! Pioneer Program – Little Stars: 1st & 2nd GradeOur Little Stars, through games and exercises, will develop their very own ORIGINAL SHOW to be presented at the end of summer! This is a completely new way of working and we are excited to see what they come up with. Little Stars will be guided by one of our Talented Teaching Artists. In addition to rehearsals, campers will also have the opportunity to enjoy activities such as: ACTING – SHAKESPEARE – IMPROV – TAP – JAZZ – HIP HOP – MOVEMENT for the ACTOR and more. |
Summer Stars: 3rd – 6th Grade – Once Upon A MattressThe 3rd – 6th graders will be working on the outrageous Musical Comedy Once Upon A Mattress Jr!. This classic upbeat musical is an adaptation of the world-renowned children’s fairy tale THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA. Filled with Princesses, Princes and evil Queens, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS is sure to bring a whole lot of fun to our community! |

NEW!! Triple Threat Showcase 7th – 9th GradeWe are more than excited to see what Triple Threat will produce for us over the 2012 summer. The Triple Threat Showcase will give everyone in the community a glimpse into the daily training of our young performers. These talented kids will have the opportunity to work with Artists in the top of their field in a professional environment |
Workshop Track – ½ DayThis track is for the kid that does not want to get up early in the summer but still wishes to challenge themselves. Campers in our Workshop Track will participate in all our afternoon workshops and present their work at our end of summer Collaborative ArtsFest. Broadway – This year we will be going to see the Broadway SMASH HIT – SISTER ACT!Broadway Show Date is Wednesday July 25thArt in Nature at Wave Hill – The entire camp will enjoy their activities, while incorporating the beautiful grounds of Wave Hill and the Hudson River. |
