How To Succeed…Spotlight On Esther Bezborodko

how To SUcceed In Business Without Really Trying - Riverdale Repertory Company

How is RIVERDALE REP different from other Community Theater programs that you have participated in?  How is it the same?

What’s wonderfully refreshing for me is how all of the newbies were welcomed into the fold, from the very first moments of the very first rehearsal. Often, theatre groups are cliquey. Riverdale Rep is far from it.

It’s been great to share our passion for performing together. Community theatre folk come together for the love of performing, not as a career, so we can enjoy the process more, I think.

What have you found to be the most challenging?  The most enjoyable?

The most challenging thing for me, with this show, has been having effectively half the rehearsals for the double casting. Luckily, cast mates have been fantastic about running lines when we’re not needed onstage. And leaving my 3 little ones (ages 2, 3 and 6) to go to rehearsals tugs at my heart.

Most enjoyable has been the people, making so many new friends along the way. And getting to play this role that I thought I was too old to play, opposite my fabulous Finch, Timothy!

What do you do for a living?

I teach data analysis and presentation skills for a big management consulting firm. Sounds exciting, no? I also sell non-toxic and highly effective cosmetics, bath, and beauty products. Estherbezborodko at gmail dot com if you want to learn more about that.

And I’m raising three curious, bright, adorable children.

Why do you participate in Community Theater?

Community theatre gives me the creative outlet I crave, and lets me continue to perform even if I’m not doing it professionally anymore.

What’s your favorite part of HOW TO SUCCEED?

In the show? Musically, it’s the finale of Act 1. From an acting standpoint, it’s the tiny reprise Rosemary sings of “I believe in you”. Any time I share the stage with Timothy is a hoot. Plus, I love the “Paris Original” number. Is that too many favorites?

Where do you live?  Do you perform in theater nearer to your home?

I live here in Riverdale. This is the first show I’ve done in 3 years. I used to perform a lot in theaters throughout NJ.
