Have you worked at Summer Stage before?
Yes, this is my fourth summer working at camp. It is easy to come back every summer because of the friendly working environment, great campers, and exciting new challenges like choreographing and teaching the campers new things.
Did you have a camp like this when you were growing up?
Fortunately, I did! In fact, I was a camper in Summer Stage during its very first summer when the camp went to the Henry Kaufman campgrounds every day and was run by Laurie Walton with Ben Becher and Greg Kantor as counselors. I loved being a camper and have fun memories from my summers at camp.
What is the most exciting part for you about Summer Stage?
The most exciting part about Summer Stage is teaching the campers and watching them learn new, interesting skills in tap, modern dance, acting, singing, photography and more. The campers come to camp knowing more than they did the day before and are eager to learn more!
What sets Summer Stage apart from other camps?
Summer Stage incorporates all the fun and easiness of a regular day camp but goes a step further. This camp provides campers with the opportunity to hone their theatrical skills and learn from incredible professionals as well as the talented RRS teens. Campers also get to put on a full-scale production, all while forming new friendships and deepening old ones.
Do you like that all Summer Stage Counselors/Group Leaders are RRS Teens or Alumni and Why?
I love that all the counselors are RRS teens or alumni. First off, I get to work with all my friends! More importantly, it allows us to use our talents and the techniques we have picked up through our years at RRS. It gives us a chance to teach the younger kids and pass on everything we have learned. This strengthens the sense of community in the RRS family, which is so important because this type of camaraderie between people of different backgrounds and ages is what makes RRS a uniquely wonderful program.
